Doug Allen is best known as the creator of STEVEN (though he is also the co-creator of the criminally underappreciated lunacy that was IDIOTLAND), the primitive comic strip whose special blend of irreverence, paranoia, and hilarity have made it a popular feature in alternative newspapers across the country for over 20 years.

Each issue of Fantagraphics' STEVEN COMICS collects almost a year's worth of strips. In issue #1, Steven and everyone else in the strip gets buried alive, and a new character, "Dumpy," is introduced amongst a bunch of cactus gags.
